Stephan Balleux

Stephan Balleux

Stephan Balleux is the master of skulls! His paintings and drawings are delightfully macabre, but also contain some of the most incredible texture. Some look as if they are crafted from flowing material, others from wet paint fresh from the pallette.

HoloCube

Holocube

The HoloCube is a fully integrated 3D platform that makes your product look like never before. Well, that’s what they say on the site anyway. It’s basically a hollow cube that has an image projected inside it. I’m not quite sure what to make of this, the concept is really cool, however in this instance it looks like the physical product falls short of making a huge impact (perhaps this is due to the holograms not actually looking like they are real 3D on the website).

Regardless, it’s cool to see that this kind of technology is making in-roads into the commercial market. It’s just one step closer to the 3D shark from Back to the Future.

Tapedeck.org

Tapedeck.org

Remeber cassette tapes? If you’re a child of the 70’s or 80’s then you definitely will, children of the 90’s perhaps not so much. Anyway, Tapedeck.org has a great collection of images of old cassette tapes and you can even sort by brand, playing time and quality (I always liked BASF tapes myself).

Prologue

Prologue

California based design studio Prologue have got some great work on film titles and credits in their portfolio. Films suchs as Spiderman, Dawn of the Dead, Kiss Kiss bang Bang and the most excellently titled Eurotrip (shame the movie didn’t live up to the title sequence) have all had the Prologue treatment. I wonder if they are featured anywhere in the Uncredited book?

Draft

Draft

This pixelated clock from Japanese design firm Draft looks pretty cool. Too bad the site is written in Japanese, it looks like there’s a bunch of other neat stuff on there.

Naked & Angry

Naked & Angry

Everyone’s heard of Threadless, right? Well, Naked & Angry is another venture by those crazy lads at Skinnycorp. Building upon the same principles as at Threadless where users submit designs for T-Shirts and then vote for the best, Naked & Angry allows it’s users to vote on pattern designs to be made into neckties and some great looking wrapping paper.

These melted fluorescent lights by Pernilla Jansson are pretty great. Check out her site for more playful views on what are usually quite normal appliances.

TSTout

There is some amazing illustration going on over at TSTout. I’m particularly enjoying the re-done movie posters and the Flight of the Conchords CD cover.
