hitotoki: London
We love hitotoki. So here’s the heads up. hitotoki is now accepting submissions for their London pages, so any readers from London with an interesting story about the big smoke should head on over to the submissions page and start typing. Also, I have it on good authority that hitotoki are also looking for a few illustrators to illustrate the new London articles. Send them an email if you think you’re up to it.
MoreWorld’s Biggest Skateboard
Ok, so this is a bit old (2004 to be precise), but it’s still damn cool! The world’s biggest skateboard built by Foundation.
MoreNaked Light
I really wish I had a mac right now. Naked Light provides node based image editing, not dissimilar to video compositing software. What this means is, as they put it on the site, non-destructive image editing which basically allows for multiple levels of undo as well as adding and removing filters at any point in the document’s workflow. Damn cool! Not a photoshop killer obviously but, Naked Light looks like it will be fun to mess around with.
MoreTED
TED stands for technology, entertainment, design and according to the website, it began as a conference in 1984. It’s obvious TED has evolved over the years and the website definitely reflects this with hundreds of video talks of people who are the leaders in whichever field they represent. Definitely a place to go to get inspired.
MoreThe Paperclip Lamp
The Paperclip Lamp is a beautiful piece of utilitarian design. Designed to look and bend like a paperclip, this lamp is a must have for any office.
MoreMoving Color
Remember hypercolor t-shirts? Moving Color does the same thing, albeit in a much more fashionable way. These bath tiles whilst staying a neutral grey in cooler temperatures come to life once the shower is on creating a rainbow of colour throughout your bathroom.
MoreThe perfect fridge?
Beer lovers and alcoholics unite. Could this be the perfect fridge? The Asko Home Pub integrates a mini keg holder and beer tap right into the refrigerator. Link via Gizmodo. Thanks Ferg.
MoreFlat Futures (Digital Papers)
If only this were real! Flat futures, the MA project of Miquel Mora, shows how digital paper could be interacted with in order to provide meaning to the user. One of his examples shows a paper alarm clock which switches off when it is scrunched up. My favorite though is the memory envelope (via CR Blog) which shows the recipient where the letter has travelled on it’s way to them via gprs.
MoreMilk
Is this the perfect desk? Milk is a workstation designed by Soren Kjaer of in2media which features among other things, a hidden cable drawer, integrated filing, hydraulic height adjustment and even a fish tank! Perfect for wowing just about anyone in the room. Need one? Go and talk to Holmris Office (the manufacturer) about owning one now!
